Instagram Removes “Likes” From Its Platform

Instagram Likes MILE Social

Instagram is removing “Likes” on Instagram posts. While this has already started in other countries, it is slowly being rolled out in the United States. This may be a concern to business owners that have business Instagram profiles. No need to worry about stats, you will still be able to see a full list of people who’ve liked your posts and can still view total like counts for your content. Our social media managers have noticed some accounts that have already changed. Viewers can no longer see the “heart likes,” but the actual accounts that liked the post are still visible.

The reason for the removal is to “try and depressurize Instagram, make it less of a competition, give people more space to focus on connecting with people that they love, things that inspire them.” according to Instagram Chief, Adam Mosseri.  While Instagram keeps the younger generation in mind, it is still a powerful platform for businesses to be seen on.

We need to wait to see how the change affects engagement. This can be a potentially good thing, meaning that the viewers that do like a post can genuinely be potential customers.
