Facebook Shows Some Pride

Facebook Shows Some Pride

Facebook is rolling out an initiative for Pride this month. Several new features will be added to both the Facebook and Instagram apps, allowing users to add moving images, stickers, and colored hashtags to their Pride-related posts. With brands and companies making an effort to become more inclusive during Pride month, this initiative does not come as a surprise. In the past, the social media site has always given users the option to display their Pride support through hashtags and images. Still, this year Facebook is also offering a spotlight on LGBTQIA+ businesses and businesses that support LGBTQIA+ rights. This is a great initiative in that it will help spread the word on LGBTQIA+ inclusive places for users to shop and spend their time.

Businesses and companies can also do things such as change their profile picture to express their support of Pride Month and LGBTQIA+ causes visibly. This small yet effective gesture shows users and consumers that the company is LGBTQIA+ friendly and that the company or brand’s beliefs align with that of the Queer community. It’s a great initiative and one that some people very much look forward to every year.
