When you think of watching a video online, where is the first place you go to? (This is not a trick question.) Probably YouTube, correct? That makes perfect sense considering YouTube is the “Google” of videos. But times are changing my friends. And your business needs to keep up with the times.
Facebook did their fair share by introducing auto-play to timelines. This idea alone increased audience reach and views. The one-up on YouTube is that viewers do not have to look for a video, or even press play. It is placed right there in front of them. But do not dare post your YouTube video link to your Business Facebook Page. Facebook does not like third-party posts or links. What happens on Facebook, stays on Facebook.
The sudden on-burst of live streaming started with Periscope and Meerkat. Which one is better? That is left to the opinion of the user. I lean more towards Periscope because of it’s connection with Twitter. The obsession of live streaming grew fast (if you had a good internet connection). What if your audience does not have the Periscope or Meerkat app though? Fear not. Facebook to the rescue.
Facebook now offers live streaming. It is very similar to Periscope actually. The only difference is that there is no way to make an “announcement” of your video. With Periscope, it automatically sends a tweet out for you. I am sure this “flaw” will be fixed, but in the mean time, just post ahead of time when you will be live streaming on Facebook. Facebook is still the largest social media platform with over one billion active users. Surely your video will be seen and shared.
Our world is obsessed with video. Whether Periscope, YouTube, or SnapChat, viewers favor watching a quick video over reading information. Lazy? Perhaps. But every single business should be doing it regardless. YouTube will always be the home for videos. But if you understand how social media works, you will use other methods of transportation to get your information to your audience fast.
